Alien Trilogy: Top shots From Each Film

All three films from the original Alien Trilogy are works of the great, exceptionally talented directors who aren't only great with their stories, but stunning with their visuals as well. There should be a Alien Trilogy Frames book, like it was for the two Star Wars Trilogies, showcasing best screencaptures from each film. All three films are full of stunning shots and I wanted to showcase my top 5. But it was so hard to narrow it down to just 5 that eventually I settled on one more. So lets take a look in chronological order and Ill explain each one of my choices Ridley Scott's 1979 Alien has very deep, very dark dominating blacks. In a lot of it, its the blackest dark that's dominating the screen, with splotches of images on it. Its as if an image drawn on a black paper. Lots of it is also backlit and bathed in dark blue. First Experience: Discovering the Alien Trilogy

My first experience with Alien Trilogy was very fractured. And what I mean by that is that I haven't seen the films in chronological order, and I discovered them years apart. Fairly often I notice online that the younger generation attributes admiring some of the sci fi classics to nostalgia. Even some directors do it, trying to cover their own inability to create an instant classic or at least a great and admired film. What some claim is that the hardcore fans of some films hold them in such high esteem because of the way they felt when they were young. That the wow factor they had seeing it as kids is psychologically engraved in them, therefore they tend to see the film through their young-selves' eyes. While it sounds plausible and perhaps is true in some instances, I disagree its the only reason for loving a movie, and at least in my case it is completely not true at all. What Binds The Original Trilogy

While each of the three movies is very distinctive, there are certain core elements that bind them together and unite them. Those are what I would call a classic Alien elements, which had been absent from other Alien movies beyond the original trilogy, if not all, at least some of them. I. Sets In Alien , the sets could easily pass for interiors of an old submarine or a cargo naval ship. In Aliens , the sets could easily pass for a power plant or cargo storage. In Alien 3 , they look like old infirmaries or led works. Nostromo's dining room and livable space were clean, but the ship was old and battered, and it had rumbling engines, leaks and seemingly old machinery in its guts. Sulaco was the same - its livable space was clean, but not new, not sterile and the ship's heart was rambling all the time. We didn't see its guts but knowing it had been designed with functionality in mind rather than aesthetic, we can assume it's down and dirty as well. It seemed...
